Driving and Rideshare Options

Driving and Rideshare Options

Driving, a taxi or a ride app can take you from the airport to the hotel area without changing vehicles. Arrivals pick-ups are at the Baggage Claim/Arrivals Level, while the listed drop-off points are at the Departures Level.

For a ride app, follow the Ground Transportation and Baggage Claim signs, exit through the door nearest Carousel 4, then follow the Ride App signs to Curb Zone 5. Get Me, GreenLight (GLT), Lyft, Uber and Wingz serve HOU.

Taxis pick up at Curb Zone 2 outside the Baggage Claim/Arrivals Level. Follow signs for Ground Transportation and Taxis; taxi drop-off is at the Departures Level. The airport gives approximate fares to several Houston destinations, but not to the hotel area, so check the official site before you go for current ground-transport details.

Public Transport and Transfers

Public Transport and Transfers

METRO buses serve Hobby Transit Center, just north of each baggage-claim exit door, and Route 500 runs nonstop between the transit center and downtown Houston. At the airport, public buses use Curb Zone 3.

Route 500 costs $4.50, and service runs every 15–30 minutes during regular operating hours. Another published schedule describes service every 30 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week. METRO’s local routes 40, 50, 73 and 88 serve Hobby Transit Center at approximate intervals of 12–30 minutes, depending on the route.

METRO allows free transfers between local bus, METRORail, curb2curb and Community Connector for up to three hours when you use an eligible fare card, contactless payment or pass.

Cash is accepted on local buses, but cash fares do not include free transfers, and drivers do not give change. Check Houston METRO’s official site before you go for current fares, schedules and transfer rules.

Airport Pick-Up and Drop-Off

Airport Pick-Up and Drop-Off

At Hobby Airport, most passenger pick-ups happen at the Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level, while several services drop passengers at the Departures Level. If someone is collecting you, agree on the service and curb zone before heading outside.

Courtesy hotel shuttles use Curb Zone 3, and you can request one using phones or Interactive Visitor Kiosks in Baggage Claim. Rental-car shuttles use Curb Zone 1; follow the Ground Transportation and Rental Car Shuttles signs. They connect the terminal with rental-car facilities, and shuttle drop-off is at the Departures Level.

Off-airport parking shuttles pick up from Curb Zones 3 and 4. The Houston Airports ground-transport page has current curb and service details.

Planning for Arrival and Departure Times

Choose your onward transport before leaving baggage claim: the airport assigns separate curb zones to buses, taxis, ride apps and rental-car shuttles. If you are using a shuttle, arrange the pick-up before going to its curb; courtesy hotel-shuttle requests can be made inside Baggage Claim.

For a departure, taxi, courtesy-shuttle, rental-car-shuttle and ride-app drop-offs are at the Departures Level, even though their passenger pick-ups are at Arrivals. Bus fares, service frequencies and airport transport arrangements can change, so check the official site before you go. For bus service, consult Houston METRO; for curb locations and airport services, consult Houston Airports.
